Montessori
My services include a Montessori Playgroup from pregnancy through the age of three. This is a parent participation weekly class with 90-minute sessions which run for 8 weeks, along with a discussion group outside of class for parents covering a variety of topics. Over the course of the 8-weeks parents learn the art of observation, using an Observation Journal created for this experience. They interact with their child, while also observing myself, an experienced Montessori teacher, as I interact and introduce activities to the children. My services also include Montessori in the Home Consultation, and I am also a Birth Doula, so I bring many years of experience with pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum to families who choose this support. I have been a certified Montessori teacher for 27 years, and a Birth Doula , childbirth educator, and Assistant Midwife since 1990. I also offer Personal Teacher and Parent Mentorship, Positive Discipline workshops and groups, and birthing workshops.
Chesterfield Community Preschool will begin its inaugural school year on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. We are a dedicated, grassroots, Montessori, micro-school committed to guiding children in an authentic community atmosphere. We believe in an affordable, inclusive, respectful, child-focused education system and aim to provide an environment that meets the needs of the families we serve.
Our year-round, half-day preschool program is designed for children ages three to six years old. Our school days are Monday through Friday, 8am-12pm with a break each quarter. Class size is limited to twelve students and three faculty, providing a sense of community, partnership and individualization.
Our school is located within a Christian church and we are proud to share our faith with the children in our classroom, however, part of building an authentic and diverse community means also celebrating the different cultures, customs and religions of the families enrolled.
Our goal is to maintain affordable tuition in an effort to preserve the spirit of Montessori education. Tuition is only $500/month per child and requires an annual commitment. We operate with rolling admissions and will accept applications year-round, adding to our wait-list as needed. Please contact us for application information.
Meridian Micro School is an integrative, innovative elementary program. It reflects our commitment to whole child well-being and student-led inquiry. Classes combine hands-on learning and community experiences, guided by the Montessori philosophy.
At Prairie Song Academy we guide K-12 students’ academic and socio-emotional growth as they become confident, compassionate, creative thinkers. Our nurturing environment gives them space to explore their interests, unleash their creativity, and broaden their worldviews. We teach them to seek out the stories that are not always told, and to center those who have been marginalized. When students leave us, they will know they are deeply loved, have a sense of their place in this world, and do their part in creating a more just and inclusive society .
