Meridian Learning Seeking Presenters for Grassroots Microschools Conference

Ready to join the grassroots evolution?

Meridian Learning is seeking presenters for this summer’s online grassroots microschools conference. Presenters with direct experience leading or teaching in a grassroots microschool are preferred. We are especially seeking leaders and teachers from microschools that serve underserved communities, international microschools, secondary microschools and specialized microschools ie arts, technology etc. Presenters will be paid for their time.
Our previous conference in 2016 (the first ever microschools conference!) was focused on the administrative, marketing, legal and financial aspects of building a microschool (check our community resources page for this recording). While these continue to be areas of interest, this conference will be focused on sustaining a microschool. What do you wish you knew two, five, 10 years ago that would have made today easier or better?

Seeking Guest Facilitators

Meridian Learning is seeking guest facilitators for our online conference in December (45 minute commitment) and guest hosts for monthly online office hours from January through May (one hour commitment). Is there an area in which your experience and knowledge might assist aspiring microschool leaders? Is there a topic you are interested in exploring further among our grassroots microschool network?

Online Summer Courses Launch August 11

Our online summer courses for aspiring microschool leaders and teacherpreneurs launch August 11! See below for course descriptions and links to registration.

Teacherpreneurship 101

This three-hour online class includes accounting, marketing and administration tips for aspiring and new teacherpreneurs seeking opportunities to continue teaching while operating their own schools or programs. The class is ideal for those interested in launching or improving home-based preschools, play groups, co-ops, or parenting, tutoring, afterschool, foreign language and adult education programs. Participants will receive information enabling them to establish basic professional practices and streamline processes to ensure smoother operations.

How to Start a Microschool

Interested in starting your own tiny school? This class explores the steps you must take to create a legal and financial foundation for success, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each microschool entity. Participants will leave the class with a list of concrete tasks, including a better understanding of vision, mission and focus.

Meridian Montessori Parent Education Night

Please join us for our winter/spring parent education event where we will discuss with a small panel of Montessorians what makes the Montessori philosophy unique. While presentations may be different depending on setting, our core values remain the same.
