Meridian Micro School is seeking a cooking and gardening guide for the 2025-2026 school year beginning September 2025.
Essential Functions
- Prepare for and facilitate a weekly class to include time at the garden and time in our classroom kitchenette, depending on season
- Support children to prepare, plant and tend our school garden including seed starting
- Support children to prepare small, age-appropriate seasonal items
- Be a role model for children in speech, tone, demeanor, and actions
- Foster curiosity
Competencies
- Have an understanding of (or interest in learning about) Montessori philosophy and the microschool model that Meridian helped pioneer
- Be comfortable in nature and exploring our community campus which includes the school garden
- Enjoy working with elementary age children (grades K-6)
- Have a strong work ethic
- Actively seek professional growth and development
- Solution-oriented and willing to meet students where they are
Requirements
A background check, first aid and CPR training is required. Candidates should have previous experience with children and authorization to work in the United States. Additionally, candidates should have extensive experience, either professional or amateur, with cooking and gardening.
Position Details
Class meets weekly for 45-60 minutes. There is also the option to guide our summer cooking and gardening camp, a Monday-Friday morning camp held in July. Enrichment guides set their own rates, typically $15-17/class/student.
