Where does tutoring take place?

Presently, all tutoring sessions take place in our home-based learning center near Butler University.

How often does tutoring take place?

The frequency of sessions will depend on the student’s academic needs, as well as a variety of other factors, which can be discussed with the program coordinator.  Typically, no fewer than two sessions per week are recommended.

What grades do you tutor?

Our reading, language and comprehension programs are geared toward students in Pre-K through college, while our math programs are most appropriate for students in grades K through 6.

How much of a commitment do you require from families?

We ask that parents make at least a semester-long commitment to tutoring, as this is highly beneficial to both the student and tutoring provider.  Many of our programs were designed to be fairly intensive, and while special considerations will be noted, taking time off is not recommended.  Should families choose to terminate sessions prior to the end of the semester, the registration deposit will be forfeited, and students will not be able to return until the following semester, provided there is space available.

Do you tutor students with exceptional needs?

We welcome the opportunity to work with students with exceptional needs, including those with ADD/ADHD, sensory processing issues, NVLD, dyslexia and other learning differences, as well as children identified as gifted.

How much does tutoring cost?

We are committed to making our high quality programs accessible to budget-minded families.  By operating as a small program, we are able to keep our costs much lower than most other specialized tutoring providers.  Please contact us for current tuition information.

My child just needs homework assistance.  Can you help?

We value your time and financial commitment and feel strongly that homework should not be the focus of sessions.  However, if utilizing your child’s textbook or homework is beneficial to his/her overall success, we will happily incorporate this into an individualized program.

Do you offer diagnostic assessments?

No.  While many tutoring providers offer testing services, we feel that diagnostic assessments are often costly and unnecessary add-ons, especially if testing has already been administered.  We appreciate the opportunity to review any assessments that have been completed and will refer students to testing providers if necessary.

How long will it take to see results?

While we make no guarantees regarding our programs, many families have seen improvement in their child’s academic work in just a few weeks.  However, it often takes several months for sustained progress to be achieved.  A student’s success depends on a number of factors, which we will further discuss when setting up tutoring sessions.  Contrary to many other tutoring providers, we see no value in beginning or continuing sessions if they aren’t beneficial.  If we feel our programs do not meet your child’s needs or determine that your child has reached a “plateau,” we will let you know.

Do you offer parent/teacher training in your tutoring programs?

Yes.  See our Upcoming Events page for a listing of upcoming group training, or contact us for more information regarding private training.  Please also sign up for our email newsletter so that we may notify you when new training is offered.

Do you offer summer only tutoring programs?

Yes.  Our eight week summer intensive program (minimum of 2 sessions/week) begins in early June and ends in early August.
