Where are you located?
Our home-based Montessori Children’s House is located in Midtown Indianapolis, just two blocks west of Meridian Street near Butler University.
What are your age requirements?
We accept toilet trained children age 3 to 6.
What kind of parent participation do you expect?
We view your child’s education as a collaborative effort; thus, parent participation is encouraged and expected. We ask parents to bring snack on a rotating basis and occasionally assist with other duties such as planning field trips. In addition, we hope parents will join us for events such as parent education nights, workshops and classroom celebrations. Parents are also expected to help create continuity in their child’s development and to maximize their child’s classroom experience by incorporating Montessori principles at home. Strong parent involvement is a key component of the Montessori philosophy and naturally fits our cooperative format.
Do you provide support and/or training for homeschooling families?
Yes. Meridian Learning is unique in that we offer in-home consultations for families who wish to set up a Montessori learning space and/or begin Montessori homeschooling, but do not desire regular instruction. We can also arrange one-on-one supplementary sessions and parent training at our Midtown Children’s House. In addition, we occasionally offer group workshops, which are beneficial to both homeschooling and non-homeschooling families alike. Please visit our Upcoming Events page or contact us for more information.
Do you offer remediation/enrichment sessions for children currently enrolled in a Montessori or non-Montessori school?
Yes, we are happy to provide supplementary sessions and work with your child’s classroom teacher to develop a remediation or enrichment plan that meets your child’s needs.
How much is tuition?
Please contact us for current information regarding tuition and fees, as well as the cost for in-home consultations, supplementary sessions and parent training.
Are you “green?”
Efficiently utilizing small spaces, chemical-free materials and nature as a classroom, Maria Montessori encouraged respect for the environment long before it became a global initiative. Rather than list all of our planet protecting choices, we invite you to visit our Children’s House and learn more about how Montessori was “green” before it was cool.
How do I know if Montessori is right for my child?
Parents are encouraged to arrange a visit to learn more about the Montessori philosophy and method of instruction. As a community of Montessorians, we also welcome the opportunity to connect you with other families who have experienced the Montessori difference.
Does Meridian Montessori follow the public school schedule?
We begin our regular school year right after Labor Day and end classes just before Memorial Day. Typically, all public school holidays are observed.
Do you offer a summer program?
Yes. Please click here for more information.
