Our adolescent program brings to life Erdkinder in an urban setting and extends our commitment to meaningful learning for the world adolescents are actually entering. Staying rooted in the grassroots microschool model Meridian helped pioneer, we foster a personal middle- and high-school experience and a sense of fellowship uncommon in factory-model schools. Classes combine community- and project-based learning, guided by the Montessori philosophy.
Our classroom is a classroom without walls that integrates and enriches our local community, as well as the greater Cincinnati region. Students learn to navigate real-world systems, shared spaces, and expectations as part of their daily experience. We tailor our curriculum to meet the developmental needs of adolescents and the realities of modern life, while maintaining clear expectations, accountability, and meaningful contribution.

Each day follows a consistent rhythm that blends academic study with extended land- and community-based work. Academic pathways are flexible and may vary by family.
Program Options
The adolescent program offers a four-day core experience (Monday–Thursday). Limited two- and three-day options are available for homeschooling families. All students, regardless of schedule, engage in daily outdoor and community-based work that connects learning to life.
Enrichment
On select days, students may choose to participate in enrichment offerings, which vary by semester and are based on interest and availability. These opportunities may include art and music classes, along with short-term, themed offerings that emerge from the interests of our community. Admission Requirements
We currently accept students age 12 to 15 years. An informal meeting with both parent and student is required prior to enrollment, and a trial day is required prior to confirmation of enrollment. If a student has previously been enrolled in a non-Meridian elementary or middle school program, we request educational records or transition information from the prior school to support a smooth placement.
